The Association of African Exhibition Organisers (AAXO) hosted yet another successful Organiser Sales Training Day recently.
Attended by almost 80 per cent of the exhibition industry’s key players, the much-anticipated Organiser Training Day that took place at the Sandton Convention Centre not only proved highly popular, but also received vastly positive feedback from all those in attendance.
The event’s speakers, which included the internationally acclaimed author and motivational speaker Justin Cohen and the world’s top recommended sales trainer Andy Preston, inspired the audience with their high-energy presentations; equipping them with valuable sales tools and motivation techniques tailored to the dynamic and demanding modern exhibition industry.
The day’s agenda further included an IAEE webinar on helping exhibitors maximise their ROI outcomes, hosted by Ian Sequeira, who has more than 30 years of experience in trade show and event industry research. As an internationally renowned expert when it comes to developing extensive and effective corporate and organiser measurement programmes for the exhibition industry, Mr Sequeira heads up Exhibit Surveys Inc.’s research operations. Ian’s co-host, Nancy Drapeau, also brought a great deal of expertise to this session, with over 21 years of market research experience and 14 years in the trade exhibition industry specifically.
To conclude the agenda for the day and offer a platform for delegates to network with other industry leaders, AAXO for the first time introduced a one-on-one Speed Networking session for Organisers and Suppliers.
Following the enormous success of AAXO’s inaugural Organiser Training Day that took place in Johannesburg on 10 February 2016 which also included the official launch of AAXO, the training events hosted by AAXO have been extremely well-received, developing a reputation as exciting events which are not to be missed by anyone who wants to keep their finger on the pulse of the African exhibition sector.
In line with AAXO’s strong 2016 focus on growth, training and knowledge sharing, the Organiser Training Day was specifically positioned to educate exhibition and event organisers’ sales teams on Revenue Growth including Return on Investment for Exhibitors, Increasing Stand Sales and Securing Sponsorships. This series of empowering and informative sessions was designed to provide organisers with the tools, resources and insights to market and run their exhibitions more effectively.
Carol Weaving, chairperson of AAXO explains: “AAXO has been working hard to serve our members and industry by advocating for their needs and it is always exciting when our efforts and events are well-received and supported by the industry leaders that we represent.”
She adds: “With this Training Day, we set out to equip organisers with the tools, skillset and network required to host successful exhibitions and, judging by the vastly positive feedback we received after the event, this was definitely achieved.” She adds, “On the back of the ranging success of both this Training Day as well as the inaugural Training Day that was hosted in February this year, we are now looking forward to our Exhibition Industry Sleep Out – which is set to follow the same trend of offering our members valuable opportunity to network, gain valuable insight and resources and ultimately contribute to our mandate to professionalise and grow the Exhibition industry.”
Coinciding with Global Exhibitions Day, the Exhibition Industry Sleep Out will involve a gathering of the industry’s most dynamic thought leaders for a Soup and Bread get-together at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg on 7 June 2016. After spending the night and enjoying coffee and donuts on the morning of 8 June 2016, guests will participate in the official opening of Global Exhibitions Day in South Africa.
