The SA Concierge Forum recently hosted its 16th conference at the NH Hotel in Sandton, bringing together professionals from across the hospitality, concierge and guest relations sector for a day of learning, inspiration, networking and industry knowledge-sharing. Selected Students from The International Hotel School were invited to experience a day in the life of a hotel concierge, offering tomorrow’s hoteliers valuable insight into the profession.
Hosted by Deon Prinsloo and Kagisho Ditira, Founders of The South African Concierge Forum and D&D Concierge Consultancy, the conference centred on the theme of “Consistency”, exploring how consistency can be used to strengthen guest experiences and create memorable interactions time and again.
The programme featured industry speakers, hospitality leaders, exhibitors and special guests, all contributing to the broader conversation around excellence and consistency in guest services.
One of the key presentations was delivered by Executive Business Coach Charl Coode, who examined the importance of consistency and its application to professional performance and guest interactions.
The message was particularly relevant to the concierge and guest relations environment, attention to detail, personal interaction and the ability to consistently meet expectations can make a significant difference to the overall guest experience.
Gustav Pieterse, General Manger of Saxon Hotel and Inland Chairperson for FEDHASA, also addressed delegates, providing insight into FEDHASA’s role within the South African hospitality industry and its work to support and represent the sector.
One of the conference highlights was a surprise appearance by celebrated South African musician and humanitarian Yvonne Chaka Chaka, who reminded delegates of the importance of recognising and embracing the unique talents within each individual. Her presence added an inspirational dimension to the day and reinforced the idea that everyone working in hospitality has something distinctive to contribute to the guest experience, and the industry as a whole.
Another highlight was a presentation by Masood Sadulla and Lizelle De Haas, both Golden Key members of Les Clefs d’Or who introduced delegates to the world of Golden Keys. Their presentation provided insight into the history and origins of Les Clefs d’Or, what the organisation represents, and the requirements and commitment involved in becoming a Golden Keys member.
The conference also provided an opportunity for a range of hospitality related businesses and service providers to showcase their products and services, demonstrating how they can enhance the guest experience.
At its heart, the SA Concierge Forum conference was about people and connection.
The event brought together professionals from across the concierge and guest relations sectors, creating an environment in which delegates could exchange ideas, build relationships, discover new offerings and share their experiences of working in the hospitality industry.
The 16th SA Concierge Forum Conference highlighted the importance of continuous learning, connection and professional development in an industry where the guest experience remains central.
The SA Concierge Form looks forward to continuing to connect, inspire and strengthen the hospitality community through future events.
