Today, Sun City’s iconic Entertainment Centre closes for a major refurbishment. The Entertainment Centre, which houses the Superbowl, will be re-imagined and rebuilt at a cost of R300-million as part of the R800-million revitalisation of Sun City.
“The Entertainment Centre opened its doors in 1980 as Frank Sinatra crooned to roaring crowds, and it originally housed the Sun City Jungle Casino. There is no question that the Entertainment Centre has changed drastically over the years however it is this change that will take the Entertainment Centre to new heights as we look to creating an experiential journey for guests,” says Colin Jonkers, group retail general manager.
During the refurbishment, there are a number of alternative activities and restaurants still available across the resort.

Entrance to the Valley of Waves and The Maze of the Lost City will be located next to the Bridge of Time. There is a temporary bus stop near the new temporary entrance to the Valley of Waves where guests will be dropped off.
The Welcome Centre is still open, along with Waterworld and Adrenalin Extreme, here guests can book all the activities available at Sun City, including quad biking, archery, game drives, hovercrafts, drift trikes, paragliding, zip sliding and many more.
Conferences will be accommodated at the SunSky Village, a temporary but fully-equipped facility located near the Sun City main gate/entrance. While the new SunPark gives organisers a blank canvas to work with. A versatile multifunctional and multipurpose facility that can host lifestyle events, music festivals, product launches and other experiential events.
A limited Magic Company Games Arcade will be relocating next to Food Factory at the Valley of Waves. This will all be complemented by pop-up activities across the resort during peak periods.
