Mover and shaker, Andrew Irumba takes the reins as marketing manager at Sun International’s Sun City resort in the North West province. With over a decade’s experience in the fast paced entertainment and hospitality industry, he brings a wealth of expertise to Sun City.
He joins Sun International after ten years with Tsogo Sun where he worked in various marketing positions across the group. He started as a marketing project co-ordinator at Tsogo Sun’s head office where he co-ordinated the marketing of the first big theatre productions at the Teatro Montecasino.
After a short stint at Montecasino, he was promoted to assistant marketing manager at Emnotweni Casino in Nelspruit. He later moved to the busy Suncoast Casino where he oversaw the management and roll-out of major lifestyle events including Pick n Pay Taste of Durban and the Tops at Spar Bierfest. Later promoted to customer relationship manager at Suncoast, he was involved in implementing customer database management strategies, oversaw the roll out of Tsogo Sun’s new rewards programme at Suncoast, and was involved in business intelligence and the implementation of initiatives to activate the database.
Most recently, Irumba held the position of marketing manager at Golden Horse Casino in Pietermaritzburg. Irumba holds a B.Com in Marketing Management and has just completed a year-long Senior Management Development Programme through the University of Stellenbosch Business School.
