Sun City’s steadfast commitment to environmental sustainability and resource efficiency has been formally recognised with its successful achievement of ISO 14001 certification. Sun City was certified by the (South African Bureau of Standards) SABS as an ISO 14001 company following a stringent audit process which scrutinized the environmental, waste and water management practices of the resort.
ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) is the world’s largest developer of voluntary International Standards that stipulate world class specifications for products, services and systems, to ensure quality, safety and efficiency. These standards have become instrumental in facilitating international trade. ISO 14001 addresses various aspects of environmental management, providing practical frameworks to help companies identify and control their environmental impact while constantly measuring and improving their environmental performance.
Says Danie Boshoff, the Environmental Manager at Sun City, “A business must always be cognisant of the environment in which it operates in order to remain sustainable. As it becomes increasingly evident that the planet has limited resources and that these resources are under tremendous pressure, all businesses along with government and individuals must elevate their sustainability efforts to ensure a productive environment.
Our ISO 14001 accreditation serves to assure our employees, guests and surrounding communities that Sun City has effective environmental management systems in place to limit the impact of our operations on the environment, and confirms our compliance with international standards.
Tourists are increasingly seeking to visit destinations that adhere to environmental best practice. Sun City is whole-heartedly committed to running its business in an environmentally sound way. We will strive for continual improvement through the implementation of efficient technologies, tactics and solutions to make our operations more resource efficient.”
