Relationship building between China and South Africa

The China – South Africa Economic Forum, and the South Africa – Shanghai China Trade and Investment Cooperation Forum, will be held tomorrow, 1 September 2015, at the Sandton Convention Centre.

With a special focus on increasing bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the countries and 2015 being the “China Year in South Africa,” the forum will see senior level government delegations from both countries attend a one day event that aims to enhance business opportunities for Chinese and South African companies particularly in the areas of investment, technology and trade.

The forum is held under the auspices of the Department of Foreign Investment Promotion of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce (SCOFCOM) and is co-organised by Meorient International Exhibitions and CBN (China Business Network). It is also supported by DTI – Trade and Investment South Africa.

The forum will open with keynote speeches by Mr. Rong Yansong, Economic & Commercial Counsellor for the Chinese Embassy in South Africa and Ms. Pumla Ncapayi, Deputy Director-General of Trade and Investment South Africa.

Included in the day’s line up is the keynote address by Ms. Jiang Hongxia, Deputy Director of Investment Promotion Department for SCOFCOM, who will be discussing the investment environment of Shanghai. SCOFCOM is actively implementing the consensus reached between Chinese President Xi Jingping and South African President Zuma on economic cooperation, deepening the ties between the two countries. “We’ll also further enhance the trade and investment cooperation between Shanghai and South Africa, especially between Shanghai and Kwa-Zulu Natal province,” says Ms Hongxia.

Following Ms. Hongxia’s address is a keynote speech by Mr. Michael Mabuyakhulu, MEC of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs for the KwaZulu-Natal Province on the investment environment of KwaZulu-Natal Province.

Mr. Ding Binyan, General Manager of Shanghai Feilo Acoustice Co. Ltd in South Africa will then be addressing modern society’s need for a new management method and finally, Ms. Estralitta Chikomo, Audit Director of Mpisi Group (PTY) Ltd will be delivering a speech on connecting Africa with Asia.
