Cruises International, representing nine luxury cruise lines in South Africa, is hosting its inaugural Meetings at Sea roadshow for the local business events sector.
Taking place in Johannesburg and Cape Town between March 24 and 27, and featuring Royal Caribbean International, these events will showcase the incredible range of features and options that make cruising so ideal for the business events market.
According to Dalene Oroni, groups and incentives manager at Cruises International, cruise ships are built for business as they have excellent conference and meeting facilities on-board, full internet and wifi access, as well as great opportunities for customised branding excursions, team-building and entertainment. To top it all, these facilities are offered in a top-end luxury environment which in itself never fails to inspire business events’ guests.
“Royal Caribbean is the world’s premier cruise line in the MICE category, so it is fantastic that they will be showcasing their ships and various cruise options in our market which has taken strongly to cruising over the past few years,” she said.
“A few years ago we probably had about 10 to 15 MICE-related bookings annually, but that number has now tripled as more companies embrace the benefits of cruising – including all-inclusive pricing and having access to everything under one roof, so to speak.”
With South Africa companies usually budgeting around R25,000 to R65,000 per person, including air fares, for incentives, Royal Caribbean cruising options are extremely attractive from R1,300 per person, per day, providing attractive value despite the weakness of the rand.
Cruising also provides the opportunity for partners to be included in packages, with their entertainment needs taken care of while meetings are underway.
“Another great option is for companies to book an entire ship, giving them exclusivity for their branding, activities and destinations,” Ms Oroni added.
“The roadshow we are hosting will certainly provide valuable insight into cruising for anyone booking groups in the business evnets market.”
The roadshow takes place at the Inanda Club in Johannesburg on March 24 and in Cape Town at the Protea Hotel Fire & Ice on March 26. For more information contact [email protected].
