Rashid Toefy has been appointed managing director of MCI South Africa, effective 1st July 2014.

As current chief executive of Africa’s leading convention centre, the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), and chapter chairperson of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) Africa, Rashid plays an instrumental role in championing the potential of Africa as a destination and commercial region and in helping African associations develop into more professional and strategic organisations.
“Bringing unparalleled local expertise and connections, Rashid will reinforce MCI South Africa’s capacity to deliver winning strategies and solutions for clients across the IMEA region,” said Sumaira Isaacs, chief operating officer, India, Middle East and Africa. “Rashid’s appointment will also further enhance collaboration between MCI and our valued partner CTICC, bringing clients even more impressive results during experiences in this unique venue.”

According to CTICC chairperson, Gary Fisher, while the board is sad to bid farewell to Toefy, they wish him all the success in his new endeavour, “Rashid was appointed as CEO of the centre in March 2008. We believe he has exceeded on the deliverables he was tasked with as the head of the CTICC,” Mr Fisher said.
