The 2013 Lilizela-Imvelo Awards for Responsible Tourism is a sustainable development initiative which recognises hotels that participate and commit themselves to sustainable development.
Leriba Hotel & Spa was chosen national winner for the best overall responsible environmental management by a large tourism establishment in South Africa, promoting environmental resource management, human procurement and development and industry sustainability
This prestigious award is an ultimate recognition in the sustainable tourism industry.
This category was not an easy one. With more than 400 entries for different categories, Leriba Hotel & Spa managed to walk away with the ultimate award, beating tough competition from the Western Cape, Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal.
Leriba Hotel & Spa is widely regarded as one of Gauteng’s premier conference with 18 fully equipped conference venues that can accommodate up to 1 200 delegates. A recent R5-million upgrade has been completed at the conference venues and another R5-million upgrade is being planned for the existing hotel rooms.
As proud Fair Trade and Gold Green Heritage member, there is a constant awareness to maintain and develop responsible tourism practices and decrease their carbon foot print.
To enhance this ethos, Leriba has embarked on a nature project that sees every guest being presented with a small tree, straight out of Leriba’s indigenous bush. This initiative allows guests to take this greening initiative into their own homes.
