SITE member, Barry Futter of Adventure Works recently took part in the Freedom Challenge Mountain Bike race from Pietermaritzburg to Paarl. This 2400km off-road Race is unassisted meaning that riders had to carry their own provisions as they navigated their way through remote areas braving snow, rain, mud and freezing temperatures.
Through this ride Mr Futter aimed to raise support and awareness for the Sisanda FunDaytion. Sisanda FunDaytion is a non-profit organisation making a difference in the lives of disadvantaged children by taking them on Fun Days of laughter and activity in areas of natural beauty. Their beneficiaries included children’s homes, convalescent hospitals and community centres in and around the Western Cape as well as the adult volunteers who accompany the children on the day.
“I am a firm believer in the ‘power of fun’ to motivate people to lead a fulfilling life. I have been fortunate enough to enjoy some fantastic experiences, of which the Freedom Challenge is one of, and would like to create that opportunity for those less fortunate.” Mr Futter said.
By sponsoring Mr Futter as little as R150 on the Freedom Challenge will create an opportunity for one child to go on an awesome experience. You are welcome to sponsor more than one child. Any amount is appreciated. 100 per cent of the proceeds will go to Sisanda FunDaytion.
The aim is to raise R15 000 which ensures an entire class can enjoy a Fun Day Out. Sponsorships start at R150.
